There is a particular kind of quiet that comes with the quiet web. What surprised me most was how little it took to begin. The ritual mattered more than the result, in the end.
It wasn’t always easy, and I won’t pretend that it was. There were false starts, of course, and no shortage of doubt. These days I can’t quite imagine going back.
