Nobody warns you how much downsizing can sneak up on you. There were false starts, of course, and no shortage of doubt. Looking back, it was the small moments that stayed with me.
It wasn’t always easy, and I won’t pretend that it was. Slowly, it stopped feeling like effort and started feeling like mine. It is a small thing, really. It is also everything.
