Nobody warns you how much the long search can sneak up on you. I kept expecting to lose interest, and somehow never did. There were false starts, of course, and no shortage of doubt.
What surprised me most was how little it took to begin. Slowly, it stopped feeling like effort and started feeling like mine. Some things don’t need a tidy ending, and this is one of them.
